Founded in 2017, Starlings is a collection of companies that focus on developing, financing and producing smartly budgeted, highly commercial films and television programs. Like our namesake, we are aiming for higher perspective, synchronicity and agility. No matter the scale of the project, we support quality, bold content, authentic voices, and character-driven stories that resonate with a global audience.
OUR WORK
Sherlock & Daughter
In 2024, we completed the first series developed and produced from inception by Starlings: period mystery drama SHERLOCK & DAUGHTER, offering a new take on the classic sleuth, starring Emmy-nominee David Thewlis, Native American actress Blu Hunt, and International Emmy- and BAFTA-winning actor Dougray Scott.
We pre-sold the first season of eight episodes to The CW Network (US), Discovery+ (UK/Ireland), SBS (Australia), YLE (Finland), NRK (Norway), SVT (Sweden), DR (Denmark), RÚV (Iceland), and Amedia (CIS), with Federation Studios taking distribution for the rest of the world. The series is airing around the world now.
Most recently, HBO Max picked up streaming rights to the series in the U.S., where the show shot up to the #4 most watched series on the platform within two days.
Sherlock Holmes is stymied, unable to investigate lest he incur the wrath of a mysterious criminal syndicate who have kidnapped his dearest friends. Meanwhile, a young American woman named Amelia travels across the world after a murder in her home in California, intent on meeting the famed detective. When this strange young woman shows up on his doorstep, Sherlock must determine whether she is a threat, an asset, or, somehow, family.

Alongside a significant cash investment into CountryLine, Starlings has also agreed a first look deal to develop film and TV projects that leverage country talent and IP from song to screen.
Young Reginald Dwight changes his name to Elton John and collaborates with singer-songwriter Bernie Taupin to become one of the most iconic figures in pop history. Set to his most beloved songs, it’s the epic musical story of Elton John, his breakthrough years in the 1970s and his fantastical transformation from shy piano prodigy to international superstar.

Thrust back into a life that he wanted to forget, Baker now finds himself struggling to choose between right and wrong.

We helped finance for the Saban Films-released drama starring Academy Award-nominee Johnny Depp.
One day, Richard gets some devastating news: the burnt-out college professor is suddenly faced with an incurable illness and the inevitable end of his existence. Flinging all conventions out of the window, he decides to completely change his life. Richard wants to enjoy what time he has left to the fullest – as freely and impetuously as possible. He leaves no sin unsinned – he drinks, smokes, dives headlong into sexual escapades and doesn’t let anyone get in his way. An act of liberation that brings Richard back to life. But time is running out.
